A LORRY overturned into a ditch while travelling along a main road.

The white articulated lorry was travelling along Shopland Road, near the Purdeys Way industrial estate, Great Wakering, when the driver lost control at about 7.30am.

The lorry fell on its side into the ditch and was not recovered until about 11.30am, during which time traffic was diverted.

A police spokesman said: “A road crash happened when the driver of a white lorry lost control while travelling along Shopland Road, Great Wakering, shortly after 7.30am on Tuesday, March 25, and overturned it into a ditch.

“The male driver was uninjured and the vehicle was recovered four hours later. There will be no further police action.”

I love the wording 'A lorry has fallen into a ditch'
What, it just fell in on its own!

OOOooh you are awful! You know how the BP of TY AKA LL and HC go into overdrive when this subject is mentioned.

Not that anyone here would possibly wind them up. God forbid! ;D

And for stunt drivers, try Rayleigh High Street/Websters Way/Eastwood Road on a weekend night.

For some reason, that poxy little roundabout outside the CoOp seems to be in some sort of Bermuda Triangle

;D

The road is often too narrow for this sort of traffic if it meets similar coming the other way. Doesn't help that most drivers speed along here, never seen a speed camera set up along here. Pedestrians and cyclists in fear of their lives is all I notice.

Oh for an eastern bypass!

This type of road is 'de-restricted' i.e. you're meant to be able to drive it at 60 mph. I go that way regularly when I go to LA Fitness and I can never get to more than 40 mph. There are straight stretches but then another double bend, and on each side there's a ditch. It looks like a quiet country road and maybe drivers who don't know it get over-ambitious. It needs care!
