Two of this evening's Essex Senior Cup quarter-finals have been called off due to waterlogged pitches.

Canvey Island's last eight clash with Ryman One North rivals Aveley was always in doubt after the Gulls' league match with Wingate & Finchley was abandoned on Saturday as rain lashed the Park Lane pitch.

The Gulls' game was postponed this afternoon and then Grays Athletic's home quarter-final tie with Conference South side Braintree Town was also called off due to the Conference hosts' New Rec pitch being waterlogged.

The postponements leave Ryman One North Great Wakering Rovers' home tie against Conference South Thurrock and the all-Ryman One North tie between AFC Hornchurch and Harlow Town at Bridge Avenue as the sole remaining quarter-final matches.

Elswhere, Billericay Town are due to host Heybridge Swifts in an Essex Ryman Premier derby at New Lodge, while East Thurrock United are scheduled to face Tonbridge Angels in the Premier.

In the Essex Senior League Canvey's Concord Rangers host Romford at Thames Road, with top dogs Brentwood traveling to Lower Road to face Hullbridge Sports.

Spectators are advised to check whether games are still on before setting out.

The numbers to call are: Billericay Town (01277 655177); East Thurrock (01375 645149); Great Wakering (01702 217812) Concord Rangers (01268 691780) and Hullbridge (01702 230420).
