POLICE have launched a murder investigation after a man died from stab wounds in York Road, Southend.

Six men from Southend, Basildon and London have been arrested by police officers in Southend following an incident in York Road at around 7pm last night.

A 26-year-old man from south east London received two stab wounds.

The man died this morning in hospital and police have now launched a murder investigation.

Police were called just after 7pm by the Ambulance Service and the victim was flown by air ambulance to hospital, where despite the best efforts of medical staff he died.

The six men, aged between 17 to 19, will be questioned by detectives today about their involvement in the incident.

York Road is currently closed from Southchurch Avenue to Queensway.
