A WOMAN pushed to the ground and kicked in the stomach in an attack outside a Basildon nightclub has been left with severe internal injuries.

A 51-year-old local woman had been walking out to the smoking area of Colors on Southernhay shortly after 2am on Sunday July 20 when she was approached by a man.

The man pushed her to the ground and kicked her in the abdomen.

The woman later attended hospital where medical staff discovered she had severe internal injuries. She was treated and later discharged.

Investigating Officer, DC Jo Phillips, said: "We were only contacted on Thursday (July 24), but are now trying to identify this man to find out the reason behind this assault.

“We have been told that there was an earlier altercation between this man and the woman so we’re looking to speak with anyone who was inside and saw this man and woman.”

The assailant is described as white, of chubby build, aged in his 20s and, at the time, had been wearing black jeans and a red T-shirt.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact detectives at Basildon police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

I noticed the echo has deleted all the previous messages from the news report. I must have missed some of them and I suppose there was so swearing going on.
