FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a fire in Southend town centre.
Smoke drifted over High Street as two bins in an alleyway between Alexandra Street and Clarence Street burned.
Staff from Clarence Yard, a pub next to the alley, fought the fire, which started about 11am, with fire extinguishers while waiting for the firefighters to arrive.
Alexandra Street is blocked by the fire engine.
