A DATE has been set for a re-trial of a man accused of murdering his grandad.
The murder trial of Anthony Winter collapsed earlier this month when a jury of six men and women could not come to a decision about whether he was guilty or not.
Winter, 34, of Westborough Road, Westcliff, is alleged to have killed 84-year-old Jack Anker at his Southend home on November 14 last year.
The Crown Prosecution Service has now set a new date for trial at Chelmsford Crown Court on September 29.
Winter has been remanded in custody until that date.
