A TEENAGE boy has been shot.
York Road has been cordoned off by police between the bus station and Queensway after a 17-year-old was shot in the leg at about 8.40pm.
He was rushed to hospital where he remains and is receiving treatment.
Officers were called by the ambulance service last night after they arrived to treat the boy. His injuries are consistent with being shot by a BB gun. They are not life threatening.
Police conducted an area search for suspects last night but could find no trace.
Anyone with information can call DI Jon Burgess at Southend CID on 101 extension 470217.
