A man has died following a house fire in Grays.
Two fire crews were called to Brooke Road just before noon today after concerns were raised for the man's welfare.
A member of the public had gone into Grays Police Station just before 11.20am to voice their concerns.
The property was alight when fire crews arrived and paramedics were also called to the scene.
Police officers evacuated residents from neighbouring properties and officers then discovered the man inside, once the fire had been put out within 30 minutes.
The man was treated at the scene but died before he could be taken to hospital.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established and officers are liaising with the Fire Service over the cause.
At this time the man's death is being treated as unexplained and the coroner has been informed.
