INDIANS welcomed spring in a riot of colour.
Essex Indians celebrated the Holi festival at Laindon Community Centre.
The Hindu festival has become internationally famous for the throwing of paint powder and members coated each other in a rainbow of colours.
They also enjoyed a three-course meal and a number of stalls at the centre, in Aston Road.

Organiser Ranjana Roychowdhury said: “The festival of colours was a sheer delight for both kids and grown-ups.
“All sorrows and worries were drowned in the rainbow colours of Holi and everyone enjoyed the festival by singing, dancing, playing with colours and making merry.”
