WORK to ease congestion around Basildon Hospital is set to finish next month.
The £3.4million scheme to widen Nethermayne, between Roundacre and the hospital roundabout, started in October and has a scheduled completion date of April.
An extra lane is being created for cars travelling between the hospital roundabout and the junction with Ashdon Way, and two lanes are being formed in both directions under the railway bridge up to the junction with the Roundacre roundabout.
In addition, the existing junction at Ashdon Way is being upgraded.
The work is expected to ease congestion around Basildon Hospital, improve access for patients, visitors and staff, and reduce journey times.
Motorists and bus passengers have had to allow extra time for their journeys while the project has been under way.
