Police are appealing for information after a cyclist was found injured in the road in Ramsden Heath.
The man, in his 60s from Battlesbridge, was found collapsed at the side of Hawkswood Road, near the junctions of Downham Road and Dowsetts Lane, at about 2.40pm yesterday.
He had a white framed road/racing bike with him.
The cyclist was taken to Basildon Hospital by ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.
Anyone with information is asked to call PC Dave Jackson at the Laindon Roads Policing Unit on 101.
