JACKSON Sloan and the Rhythmtones – a rocking roots blues band – are making quite a name for themselves, with big bookings under their belt this summer including the Ink-NIron Festival, in California, and the Leigh Folk Festival.

But before those dates roll around, they’ll be playing next at a jive dance at Club Riga, upstairs in O’Neill’s in High Street, Southend, on Saturday, April 11.

Jackson Sloan is a singer-songwriter who began with the band Rent Party back in the early Eighties.

Over the years, has built up a reputation as a gifted frontman.

His love of the music evolved from his parents record collection which led to him attending live gigs in his own home town of Southend and all over Europe.

Jackson’s latest CD, the Shack Sessions, was released in 2013 on Shellac records and conveys his love of jump blues, r ‘n’ b, rock ‘n’ roll, boogie woogie and jive.

A single followed, Jukebox Swing, available on CD and limited edition red vinyl 45 rpm on CRJO Records.

Tickets for the Riga – O’Neill’s gig are £8 on the door.

It starts at 8pm.
