BEST Comedy Newcomer Award Nominee and number one winner in the Guardian’s Top Comedy 2014 awards, Liam Williams, is bringing his show, Capitalism, to the Palace Theatre this week.

It’s said to be a self-reflective introduction to this “bright young thinker’s”

down-beat promenade through “casted optimisms, and personal shortcomings”.

It follows two sold-out London runs and a UK tour, as well as appearing at the Edinburgh Fringe where he was nominated for the best newcomer award.

TV credits include Russell Howard’s Good News, Comedy Central at the Comedy Store, something for Channel 4 and he’s been on BBC Radio 4 three times.

Within success and happiness there remains a space for inadequacy, and that is where Williams’ show finds itself nestled. His attention has turned to economic struggle, societal obligation, apathy, malaise, and the implications of reaching quarter-life with one’s brain intact.

Williams recently wrote and starred in his own series of Channel 4’s Comedy Blaps (featuring Alison Steadman, Charlotte Ritchie, and Duncan Preston).

The show takes place at the theatre in London Road, Westcliff, on Friday May 8, at 8pm. Tickets, priced £9 and £10, are available from the box office or at southendtheatres.org.uk
