Detectives are appealing for help from the public to find jewellery and watches of great sentimental value stolen in a Billericay burglary.

Officers have also issued photographs of some of the items in the hope that the thief can be identified and the stolen property recovered.

The items were taken from a property in Grosvenor Gardens, Billericay, between 7.30am and 6.30pm on Friday, May 1.

The house was ransacked during the burglary.

Investigating officer Dc Steve Dawkins said: "The victim was extremely upset because most of the items taken were of great sentimental value. They included her mother’s gold wedding ring and her great-grandmother’s gold engagement ring.

"The victim has found pictures of some of the items or pictures of similar jewellery, watches and sunglasses and we hope that anyone offered these for sale will contact us.

"We also want to hear from anyone who was in the Grosvenor Gardens area on May 1 and might have seen a person or people acting suspiciously.”

Anyone with information should contact Dc Dawkins at Basildon CID on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
