SOUTHEND'S favourite ice cream will go head-to-head with its rival in Wycombe in a radio show taste off ahead of Saturday’s League Two play-off final.
TalkSport is hosting the battle in the run-up to Saturday’s big game between Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers, at Wembley. It comes after a football phone-in show on the radio station mentioned that Wycombe's chairman, Andrew Howard, made his money founding Beechdean Ice Cream.
In retailation, Rossi's ice cream sent their own batch to the radio show, and tomorrow on the Colin Murray show there will be a live taste-off between 10am and 1pm.
Colin Gray, director of Rossi Ice Cream, said: “We are doing our best to help them in every way we can and have already drawn battle lines in ice cream wars between Southend United and Wycombe Wanderers. When national radio station TalkSport mentioned the chairman of the rival team owned an ice-cream company, Southend United replied, praising their town’s own ice cream, Rossi.
“As a result, we leapt into action and sent a consignment of our ice cream samples to TalkSport. The next stage of this campaign is an on-air taste off on Friday morning between 10am and 1pm on the Colin Murray and friends show.”
The radio station TalkSport can be reached on 1089/1053AM or talkSPORT.com
