SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is set for another round of talks with midfielder Michael Timlin tomorrow.
Timlin’s current deal with the Shrimpers expires today and he has yet to agree a new contract at the club.
Millwall have now been alerted to the 30-year-old’s availability.
But Brown is desperate to keep him at Roots Hall and is hopeful of making more progress in their latest meeting.
“I’ll be meeting with Michael and his agent tomorrow and hopefully the chairman will be in there with us too,” said Brown.
“Getting everyone together in the same room can only be a good thing and it will allow us all to thrash things out.
“I’m obviously very keen for Michael to stay, he’s a very important player to us and I will be making that clear.
“We know that he has other offers and that Millwall are among them but you would fully expect that after the way he ended last season.
“However, I’ll be stressing to Michael that we’re a club on the up with real forward momentum and I’m hoping to make big strides forward with his future tomorrow.”
Timlin joined Southend initially on loan in September 2010 before rejoining the following August and completing a permanent switch to the club.
He has made 170 appearances for the Shrimpers.
