A DESPERATE mum has launched a bid to raise at least £50,000 to buy herself more time with her beloved daughter.

Doctors have told Jessica Purser, 30, who is battling two types of blood cancer, there is nothing else they can do for her.

The Echo revealed last month she had pinned her hopes on a stem cell transplant and was looking for a donor, but doctors have now ruled out the operation after she took a turn for the worse.

She now need to raise at least £50,000 to pay for second opinions, scans, alternative treatments and travel either in Britain or abroad.

The first fundraising event was a charity curry night at the Tandoori Parlour, in Hart Road, Thundersley, on Monday. Her mum Linda Attridge, 57, from Benfleet, said: “Unfortunately the transplant didn’t go ahead.

They can’t give Jessica any more treatment because her cancer has started to come back.

“It’s all happened very quickly.

She’s a bit down at the moment. She was very upbeat and positive, but she’s taken a turn for the worst.

“All the support she’s received has kept her going. She gets very emotional about it.”

Jessica, of Collingwood, South Woodham Ferrers, who previously lived in Benfleet, is mum to three-old Darcy.

Jessica was originally told she had pulled a muscle, before, nine months later, being diagnosed with a tumour that spread across her chest.

Doctors at St Barts Hospital, in London, later discovered she had also developed non- Hodgkins lymphoma, which is very rare.

Jessica said: “I still feel like me, and I still have some fight left, so hearing things like ‘palliative care’ and ‘a few months’ left doesn’t feel right. I owe it to myself and to Darcy to see what else might be available.

“I appreciate all the donations because they will either give me more time, or a better time with my gorgeous little girl. That’s worth fighting for!"

If Jessica is unable to find her own miracle treatment, the money will be used to improve Darcy’s life.
