TRAIN services have been disrupted this morning due to vandalism.

The 7.50am c2c service between Laindon and Fenchurch Street was formed of six coaches instead of eight due to vandalism, as will the 9.17am service.

A c2c spokesman said a window on one of the carriages had been shattered by a customer the evening before, meaning the carriage and the one behind it had to be decoupled.

He said: "The windows are double glazed and are designed to hold themselves together when they are smashed so they don't shower glass on customers but they are vulnerable and so unfortunately the carriage had to be taken out of service.

"We apologise to everyone who was affected by this."

The 7.12am service between Thorpe Bay and Fenchurch Street and the 8am service between Fenchurch Street and Shoebury were also formed of six coaches instead of eight, however, this was due to a train fault.
