If, like me, you’ve been glued to the Tour De France on your TV and inspired to get out on your bike, you’ve picked the perfect county to ride in.
Not only is Essex where world class riders such as Mark Cavendish, Laura Trott, Alex Dowsett and Ian Stannard hail from, but it also hosted the 2012 Olympic Mountain Biking races at Hadleigh, provided a series of stunning backdrops for the fast-moving pelotons of last year’s Tour De France and is a regular fixture on the Aviva Women’s Tour of Britain.
So, whether you fancy yourself as a bit of a Bradley Wiggins or just want to go for a pootle with the kids, Essex is perfect.
