A BUSINESSMAN was hypnotised live on television as part of a hit game show.

Shane Parkin, of Eastern Esplanade, Canvey, said he had an “unforgettable time” filming footage for You're Back in the Room.

The ITV show, hosted by Phillip Schofield, sees five complete stangers take on a series of simple games under the power of hypnosis, unwittingly sabotaging their chances of winning a cash prize.

Mr Parkin, 35, remains tight-lipped on exact details of his hypnosis, but he did reveal football pundit and TV presenter Chris Kamara made a special guest appearance and was involved in one of his challenges.

Mr Parkin, co-owner of Canvey's Movie Starr cinema, said: “It was an amazing day and so much fun. I couldn’t recommend it enough to people.

“I had been hypnotised, but obviously never in front of cameras. It was a little daunting, because obviously you have no idea what they’ll make you do. They give you an opportunity to watch it all back after the show, and I was absolutely gobsmacked at what they made me do.

“To meet Chris Kamara was brilliant as I am a big football fan and watch him every weekend on Soccer Saturday. It’s something I’ll never forget.

“I don’t want to give too much away, so people will need to watch the show to find out more.”

Mr Parkin’s appearance on You’re Back in the Room will be shown on ITV, this Saturday at 8.30pm.

The series features Irish hypnotist Keith Barry.
