A WOMAN was sexually assaulted as she travelled on a train.
The victim was travelling on the c2c service between Limehouse and Basildon when she was attacked.
As the train travelled through Laindon station, the woman became aware of a man sitting opposite her.
He leaned in close and touched the woman inappropriately.
PC Lauren Newling said: “The woman was understandably angry about this unacceptable behaviour and confronted the man.
“He got up and moved to another carriage.”
On leaving the train at Basildon, the woman reported the incident to staff who alerted police.
PC Newling said: “I would like to thank the victim for reporting this incident to us.
“We have a zero tolerance approach to any form of unwanted sexual behaviour and will do everything we can to find the person responsible."
