"At The Comedy Club we specialise in professional comedy entertainment and events on people's doorsteps and that is exactly what we will be bringing to Wickford.

"In recent years we have defiantly seen a rise in interest and people wanting to see and enjoy comedy nights and entertainment.

"There are different reasons for the latest demand and increase in interest that we have seen in the recent years.

"First of all there has been an increase in comedy shows and stand up entertainment shows and series on television and this is has meant that we have seen a rise in the number of people who want to see and watch live stand up events and entertainment.

"We think that people enjoy watching stand up on television so much that they want to experience comedy shows live and enjoy these shows live.

"We have also found that in Wickford there is a new demand for a different kind of entertainment instead of the usual music tribute nights and karaoke events."

Mr Davies said that people need a chance to enjoy themselves and comedy nights are a good chance for people to do this.

He added: "Another reason for the increase in demand and popularity of comedy shows comes from the need for people to just forget the day to day stresses that life throws at us and just have laugh and enjoy themselves.

"We have seen even more evidence and need for this with all the stress and concerns surrounding Britain leaving the European Union."
