JAMIE and Jimmy are back in Southend filming for their hit channel four cooking series and this time they are teaching how to cook mussels.

The duo were in old Leigh this morning and it is believed they were filming a segment on the simplicity of cooking and preparing mussels.

Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty were filming for the fourth series of their popular show Friday Night Feast in Old Leigh, which is renowned for its seafood.

The majority of this morning's filming took place outside the Crooked Billet pub.

General Manager, Luke Oliver, said: "They were filming for Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feast.

"They were cooking some mussels with the locals of Leigh, they were encouraging how easy it is to do and can be done at home.

"I had a greeting with Jamie, shock his hand and said hello and then let them get on with it.

"We let him use our beer garden for the duration of the morning.

"There was a nice set of people that came down, about 50 people in the end, it was quite a big crowd."

The crew were also taking advantage of seafood café Osborne Bros, of Old Leigh, who said it was a delight to have the duo around.

Café Manger Ben Swain said: “He was teaching people how to cook mussels. He was using our location and we were providing some of the food.

“Everyone wanted to come down and see him, people were trying to get on camera.

“We showed him some of the seafood we sell. Jamie was nice, it was good to see him down here.

“He’s been down a few times over the last few years, I think he likes it here. It was good to have him around.”

The main part of the show is filmed at the end of Southend pier in Jamie and Jimmy's Cafe.

The show has become famous for welcoming a celebrity to the pier each week and getting them to cook a dish of their choice.

Celebrities that have appeared on the show in the past include Orlando Bloom and Ferne Cotton.
