THERE will be starlit carol singing on a newly refurbished wharf.
Leigh Town Council are hosting their starlit Carol Singing on Strand Wharf on Saturday December 10.
The area was completely refurbished this year by the Council and is proving a popular public space with the community.
From 4pm on the day, residents can pop along to the Fisherman’s Chapel in New Road to make and decorate a lantern to help light up the event. They will be serving refreshments as well.
The event will be taking place from 6pm to 7pm.
The Carols event is supported by the Salvation Army Band with singing being led by Carol Bastin and - for the first time - year 7 pupils from Belfair’s Academy.
Carol sheets and glow sticks will be handed out upon arrival from 5.30pm.
New this year will be mulled wine and cider to buy to warm you as you join in the singing.
A council spokesman said: "The Council are once again appreciative of the support from Homemade Bakery, Waitrose, Co-op, Tesco and Sainsbury’s enabling the tradition of providing a mince pie for all as they leave."
The event is free but donations for the Chairman’s Charity, the Fishermen’s Mission, will be more than welcomed.
Remember to bring a torch and that parking in the Old Town will be extremely limited.
