A WEEKEND club for the elderly celebrated 45-years with a party and a special guest.
Sir David Amess, MP for Southend West joined the Saturday Morning Club for celebrations that included a cake.
Sir David said: “It is always a pleasure to call in on the Saturday Morning Club and meet the wonderful volunteers who offer their time to support the elderly and sometimes lonely members of the Club.
“They do a fantastic job and I hope the Club can continue for another 45 years.”
The Club serves the elderly and disabled of Southend, offering them company, a cup of tea and a sympathetic ear.
The Club is run by a group of dedicated volunteers and meets at St Michael’s Church Hall every Saturday.
