PLANS to bring a coffee giant to Pitsea have been approved by Basildon Council.
The Echo revealed plans earlier this year to revamp a unit in Pembroke House, Northlands Pavement, which could be home to a new Costa Coffee shop.
London and Cambridge, the property developer which led the town’s £30million regeneration project, has applied to extend a unit facing disabled parking spaces.
David Gill, a Basildon Council planning officer, says the plans were “appropriate for the town centre".
He said: “Overall, the proposed enlargement of this unit, together with its change of use is considered to be in keeping with the town centre, adding to the vitality of Pitsea town centre.
“It would therefore not conflict with planning policy.”
In the firm’s design and access statement, London and Cambridge says it aims for the Costa store to create 15 new jobs.
