A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after suffering head injuries when she fell down some steps.

The woman, in her 60s, was found in Eastwood Road North, in Leigh, at about 9.20pm on Monday.

She was flown to the region’s specialist head injury unit at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

It is not clear whether the steps were in a public place or at a home.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We received a call yesterday at 9.20pm to reports of a woman who had fallen down some steps on Eastwood Road North in Leigh.

“We dispatched a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, and air ambulance from the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) charity.

“Medics were on scene within three minutes to treat the woman, believed to be in her 60s, for a head injury before airlifting her to Addenbrookes Hospital in a serious condition.”
