BUSINESS representatives attended a breakfast event where they heard about the future of the new Airport Business Park Southend and plans to improve the local rail network.
Around 60 businesses, hosted by Rochford District Council, went to the event aimed to keep local businesses informed, promote opportunities and facilitate networking.
The group heard from speaker Harry Bunbury, Senior Development Surveyor at Henry Boot Developments, who are working with Southend Council towards the delivery of the high-tech business park off Cherry Orchard Way, Rochford.
Colin MacConnachie, who works at Greater Anglia spoke about planned improvement works, including faster services to and from Southend Victoria, as well as working with Southend Airport to pursue opportunities for early morning train services - subject to Network Rail approval.
New cycle racks have also been provided at Rochford railway station to encourage people to cycle rather than drive.
Shaun Scrutton, Managing Director of Rochford District Council also spoke about
key initiatives an Investment Board to consider opportunities to develop the council’s land and property and to explore income-generating activities.
Leader of Rochford District Council, Terry Cutmore, said: “With all the schemes coming forward in the Rochford District the future is what’s in mind and I hope that comes across.”
