THERE are reports that travellers have tried to set up camp just off the A127, Southend bound.
At least five police cars were at the scene of a dispute between farmers and travellers on land just off the A1245, 500 yards up from the A127 sliproad.
Officers were seen remonstrating with the group who appeared to be attempting to set up an illegal camp on farmland.
Travellers have, in the past, attempted to set up encampments over the Easter weekend when council staff are not at work, making it more difficult to move them on immediately or prevent them entering a site.
