The air ambulance has landed on a patch of grass near the Cliffs Pavilion.

The helicopter was reportedly hovering over the seafront trying to find a spot to land.

It was eventually set down on a grass verge opposite the Cliffs Pavilion near Oliver's Restaurant in Western Esplanade, Southend.

It is believed that the emergency services were called after receiving reports of concern for a woman.

PC Daryl Jones tweeted about attending the incident and assisting the air ambulance crew.

Witnesses reported seeing her being wrapped in a foil blanket. She was taken to hospital by land ambulance for further care.

Emergency Services have been contacted for comment.
