OUTDOOR cafe tables and produce spilling out from shops on to the pavement. It's an intrinsic part of Leigh's bustling charm. Yet Leigh town councillors want to rein in the pavement clutter.
This is a silly over-reaction to a few letters of complaint, but there is something to be said for it.
Any ban would almost certainly produce a mass pavement blockage by rebellious shopkeepers.
They could then turn this into an annual festival, the Leigh Festival of Pavement Protest.
Perhaps the council should pursue the ban, so that a good time can be had by all.
