A MAN has been robbed at knifepoint for the second time in four months in his own home.

The man, who the Echo agreed to only be name as Shaun, has installed CCTV cameras after the first incident and managed to catch the assailants on camera.

The footage shows the three men pushing their way past Basildon Council workers into the flat, which is in the Ballards Walk area of Basildon.

The men then accost the two people inside, pushing one onto a sofa, before forcing Shaun at knifepoint into his bedroom and making him hand over £30 to them.

They also took pieces of jewellery and cards that had been left out.

A further £70 is also missing which Shaun believed the robbers also took.

He said: “This is the second time in four months. “They forced me into the bedroom and then got the knife out and said they weren’t afraid to use it so I should hand the money over.

“They are going to come back at some point when I don’t have any money and they are going to stab me and kill me.

“There were council workers here at the time – how could they be so brave?”

In March, a gang which Shaun believes are not linked to the latest group, stole £120, a mobile phone and a hard drive after knocking on his door.

Shaun has said he has asked Basildon Council to move him as he thinks this will stop the problem, but says no action has so far been taken to rehouse him away from the area.

A spokesman from Essex Police said: “Police are investigating following a robbery in Basildon.

“Three men entered a property in Little Lullaway at around 3.10pm on Thursday, August 3.

“One of the men was armed with a knife.

“They threatened the victim, a man in his 40s, before making off with jewellery, bank cards and a two figure sum of cash.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Essex Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

A Basildon Council spokesperson said: “Shaun has been allocated a specialist officer from the Anti-social Behaviour Team (ASB) who is investigating this matter.

"The ASB Team have been working closely with Shaun to assist with his current housing situation and are liaising with Essex Police with regard to the recent incident."
