Leigh Town Councillors Valerie Morgan and Carole Mulroney took part in a litter pick alongside a group of ten volunteers from the Royal British Legion.
The clean-up took place at Leigh Cemetery. Particular attention was paid to clearing rubbish and litter from the hedgerows with a several large bags being collected.
The British Legion approached Ms Morgan, chairman of the Environment and leisure committee, about undertaking the litter pick in an effort to clean up the cemetery ahead of next year’s First World War centenary.
The Town council says it looks forward to working with the British Legion on future litter picks and other initiatives around the town.
