An historic clock that had to be removed after falling into disrepair is set to be reinstalled.
The R A Jones Clock in Southend High Street, had to be overhauled after bits of it fell off endangering passers by.
Councillor Faye Evans, Southend’s mayor, will unveil the restored Jones Clock at 76-78 High Street, currently occupied by Yours clothing at 11am on Friday, October 20.
She said: “I am very proud to be able to unveil the restored Jones Clock in this special year.
“It has been wonderful to see such a groundswell of support from the local community to return this historic landmark to its rightful place on Southend High Street.”
