A PRIMARY school in Laindon has been gifted some brand new football kits from the Premier League.

Phoenix Primary School, in Leinster Road, was given the new kits which included an equipment pack for the year five and six football teams, as part of the kit and equipment scheme.

The scheme is run by the Premier League who offer the ‘Primary Stars’ kits to selected primary schools in England and Wales. Accompanying the packs was a curriculum linked programme that uses the Premier League to engage more children in learning. There are also downloadable packs to help the children in key stages one and two with English, Maths, PE and PSHE.

Miss Geary, headteacher at The Phoenix Primary School, said: “What a fantastic opportunity for the pupils in our school. The new kit and equipment pack will really benefit our children and the school. Thank you so much to the Premier League for such a wonderful gift.”

Richard Scudamore, chairman of the Premier League and Football Foundation Trustee congratulated the school for their award.

He said: “We hope this kit, coupled with the free downloadable online resources, will help teachers harness the popularity of football to inspire primary school kids in everything from Maths and English to teamwork and sport.”
