A Southend MP celebrated the opening of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) exhibition ‘A river runs through it’.
Southend West MP, Sir David Amess, attended the exhibition in the Upper Waiting Hall in the House of Commons. The artwork included work by school children and artist Layla Andrews. The exhibit supported a week of events that celebrated the UK’s unique rivers, asking politicians to support the restoration of the environment.
WWF chief executive Tanya Steele and MP Angela Smith spoke at the opening ceremony, joined by parliamentarians, including Sir David, and those who care about improving the health of our rivers.
The WWF #NatureNeedsYou campaign has previously worked with local angling trusts and river trusts.
