An MP got out and about in his constituency on a double decker bus with a novel approach to meeting residents.
James Duddridge, Conservative MP for Rochford and Southend East, toured the area on the bus supplied by Arriva, stopping at various spots along the way, including Asda in Shoebury.
Mr Duddridge said: “It as great to spend the day on the bus pulling up at various stops and then chatting to people and dealing with any problems or issues they were experiencing.
“As well as doing MPs’ surgeries in cafes, McDonald’s, pubs, parish rooms and fish and chip shops I thought this was a good way to connect to people in south Essex.”
Mr Duddridge added: “We travelled to every ward in Rochford and Southend East and involved Essex, Southend and Rochford councillors and candidates for the May 2018 elections.
“The stops at Asda and Waitrose were very popular.
“It was a really good day out and about, normally associated with election campaigns rather than the normal Westminster focus of my days.
“People who were unable to visit the bus can email me to discuss concerns at james@jamesduddridge.com or alternatively call my office on 01702 616 135.”
