A bed salesman has a new star employee, in the form of a cat looking for a comfy place to bed down.
Robert Palmer owns La La Land in London Road, Southend, and the business has received a boost in the form of a feline friend, Peaches.
The cat has spent long periods of the last couple of days curled up on a mattress in the shop window, soaking up the sun and attention from potential customers.
Mr Palmer said: “It is very funny, I posted the video on Facebook and the owner actually commented, saying that’s my Peaches.
“He came in and decided that he liked the bed in the window, I think its because he gets the sun on there.
“He actually spent three hours having a kip on the bed.”
Peaches has quickly become a favourite, with crowds gathering at the shop window to take a look.
Mr Palmer has been enjoying his new found friend, although he fears he may have to start paying him soon.
Mr Palmer added: “I think he is actually pretty well known in the area, he’s a favourite in one of the cafes round the corner.
“He’s a good cat, he hasn’t made much noise or fuss, he just wants somewhere comfy to rest.
“I think he’ll be asking for a pension and paid leave if he’s here much longer.”
Potential customers have been full of praise for Peaches and Mr Palmer added: “They are display beds, so it’s not the end of the world to have him in here on them.
“And all the customers have loved it. He really startled a woman yesterday, and she turned around and asked if he was real.
“One customer did have a bit of a moan, but she can go and pay more for a bed elsewhere.”
