THOUSANDS of people turned out to see the Christmas parade through Leigh.
The Yuletide Procession proved a big hit with visitors and residents alike as they stood five deep to watch as various local organisations took part in the parade.
This included amateur dramatic organisations, charities and groups, who made sure they looked the part as they made their way along the route.
Leigh traders also got involved and opened later than usual, giving people the opportunity to grab some bargains ready for Christmas.
The procession started from Leigh Road and finished at Broadway West.
Crowds were entertained throughout the evening with music, food stalls, a fun fair and even Santa made an appearance at Santa’s Grotto.
The community centre also had fun festive events running throughout the day in the build-up to the parade later that evening.
Thanks to Leigh Round Table, visitors could also have their picture taken on Santa’s sleigh.
The event was organised by Leigh Town Council as it is every year and it once again proved a resounding success.
A spokesman for the council said: “What a fantastic evening we have had. Thank you to everyone who got involved. We hope you have had a fantastic night.”
