Representatives from Prostate Cancer UK visited Southend Hospital to experience the full range of prostate cancer services available at the trust.
The charity heard about the work in prostate cancer diagnostics which has been taking place at Southend, in particular the successful integration of multi parametric MRI scanning before biopsy.
Leanne Creighton, change delivery senior officer, and Kirsty Henderson, senior policy officer, from the charity, also saw the hospital’s £540,000 brachytherapy suite which opened last year.
Ms Creighton said: “We met so many amazing people working across the prostate cancer care pathway,
“It’s been great to see first-hand the care in action and how it all works at Southend Hospital.”
