BASILDON Council will discuss proposals to invest £150,000 to create two new teams to tidy up unkempt areas across the borough.

In July last year, the council agreed to increase the amount of Pride Teams it has from one to three. The teams have since been hard at work clearing undergrowth from footpaths, removing dumped litter from wooded areas and enhancing shrub beds.

The committee will now discuss plans to invest in two additional Pride Teams for 12 months. This would result in five teams being in operation from April 2018 to August 2018, and three teams remaining until March 2019.

Councillor Alan Ball said: “The Pride Teams are making a real difference to our communities and tackling the issues which matter the most to residents, and as part of our review into their progress we will look at the possibility of expanding the service.

The regeneration and environment committee will meet to discuss the plans on Tuesday.
