YEAR 9 Product Design students at a Benfleet school have taken part in a national challenge run by the Design Museum in London.
Pupils at the King John School, in Shipwrights Drive, worked in teams to design a product that would “make life easier”.
With only one team from the school able to compete, a pitch-off saw the final team of four selected with their Lightning Repair Kit, a lightning shaped reflective case which contains a puncture repair kit.
King John was one of the top ten schools shortlisted for the competition with the team beating over 14,500 students.
The winning team, will be announced in next month, and will see its product concept developed and sold in the museum’s shop with profits going to the school’s chosen charity.
