Billericay Town Football Club handed out 750 tickets to local schoolchildren for their Bostik League clash with Harrow Borough.
Quilters Junior School, based in Laindon Road, Billericay, were the recipients of the tickets as part of the club’s community schools programme.
Paul Webster, chief executive at Billericay Town, attended the school to give away free entry for the fixture. He said: “I had the idea to interact with local schools. After all, the children in those schools are the future.”
Mr Webster travels around schools with club manager Glenn Tamplin and squad members. He added: “We appear in school assemblies and we talk about nutrition, selflessness and even aspirations beyond football.”
