An American themed cafe is closing down after more than three decades of trading.

Simply Blues, in London Road, Leigh, has announced it is closing its doors on March 31 for the final time.

The cafe has been open since 1982 but shared a post on Facebook announcing its closure earlier this week.

The post said: "After 36 years in business, we are sad to inform you that we will be closing our doors for the last time on Saturday March 31.

"We would like to thank you for your custom over the years and generations and also for the memories.

"Our Hornchurch branch will remain open.

"Best wishes from the staff."

The announcement received a lot of reaction with many people mourning the news.

Terri Jackson: "What a shame. I went there for years from the 80's onwards. Great cocktails, food and atmosphere.

"Everyone's birthday was celebrated by all the staff coming out and singing along to 'Happy birthday' by Stevie wonder.

"I know it closed for a while for refurbishment, but had no idea they were closing. Another memory bites the dust."
