Cardboard fire breaks out in industrial estate
Around 100 bales of cardboard have been destroyed after a fire broke out in Vange.
The fire which broke out at around 10.30 this morning in an industrial estate in Wharf Lane saw crews from Basildon, Rayleigh Weir, Corringham and Great Baddow try to tackle the blaze.
Due to the large amount of smoke being created by the fire, crews worked alongside the Environment Agency and Police to ensure the nearby A13 was not affected.
At 12.03pm, the officer in charge reported that the fire was under control.
Firefighters remain at the scene to ensure the cardboard is completely cooled and are currently dampening down remaining hotspots.
