In these dangerous times, in which we live with the spectre of terrorism all around, it seems to me too much consideration is given to civil-liberties at the expense of protecting the public from danger.
I would welcome the introduction of house-to-house searches throughout the country in order to prevent people from making and storing bombs in garages, attics and cellars.
I have nothing to hide and would welcome police officers into my home.
They could search my house from top to bottom - and far from feeling my civil rights were being infringed, I would actually feel reassured by their presence and would even offer them a cup of tea.
