A COUNCIL has taken steps to reassure the community after concerns were raised vehicles’ owners had not paid for parking.
Philip Miller, CEO of Stockvale - the company behind Adventure Island - took to Twitter earlier this week to question the council on why a group of RVs were not being ticketed.
He said: “We have a row of travellers pitched up along Western Esplanade. Here to enjoy the facilities the same as everyone else. However, not one has paid for parking? Saw a warden talking but no action taken? One rule for liberty takers - rest of us can pay, is that it Southend Council?”
The council since confirmed all the caravans had purchased tickets via the mobile app which does not require they have a visible ticket.
It is also not known whether the RVs belonged to members of the travelling community.
