REVELLERS planning illegal raves over the Bank Holiday weekend face being arrested.

Police officers in Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk will be joining forces to clamp down on illegal parties taking place this weekend.

Rave organisers have been warned they face being arrested and having their equipment seized under the get-tough crackdown.

Landowners are also being advised to keep their properties secure so trespassers can't sneek in and set up parties.

Supt Jed Stopher of Essex Police said: "Our priority is the safety of the public. Illegal raves can put the lives of revellers and others at risk. We will seize every opportunity to prevent such events taking place. Organisers should be aware we will deal swiftly with those trying to break the law."

Illegal raves cause a nightmare for residents who have to put up with loud music and noise until the early hours of the morning.

Police are asking the public to be on their guard and report any tell-tale signs of raves about to take place such as large convoys of cars grouping together in car parks, or vans and trucks travelling together to sites in rural areas.

Anyone with information can contact their local police station or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
