The long awaited new Somerfield in Rochford was certainly not long awaited by the local shop owners in Rochford square.
Yes, 75 new jobs will be created, but how many will be lost when the small buisnesses have to close being unable to complete with a supermarket such as Somerfield ?
Then there is a Sainsbury's convenience store too.
Finally, we are getting more flats. That's the last thing we need here. Rochford is a medieval town and the infrastructure cannot support endless flats developments. It's time somebody said enough is enough now, but I fear there is little chance of that.
