A THREE vehicle crash blocked the A127 this morning.
The eastbound carriageway of the road was completely blocked just prior to the A132 at Nevendon.
The crash has involved three cars. One lane remains blocked and there is heavy traffic in the area.
Police, fire and ambulance crews attended the scene.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a collision on the Southend-bound side of the A127 near the Mayflower Retail Park at around 8.55am today.
"The collision involved two cars and a lorry but no-one has been seriously injured.
"The incident is ongoing.
"If you have any information about what happened please call us on 101 quoting incident 249 of May 2 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 8.57am with reports of a collision on the A127 in Basildon.
"We sent one ambulance, however no-one required transport to hospital."
